There are many bands that fall under the radar of fame. Even for fans of independent bands or hidden gems, it can be impossible to find everything worth listening to. Enter: Pale Fountains. This gorgeous band are a bunch of indie darlings, and yet they seem to be missing from lists of many fans of 80’s post-punk.
But fear not, today’s song that I can’t get enough of is “Jean’s Not Happening” by the Scouse band. This bit of love comes from the band’s second album “From Across the Kitchen Table” in 1985. The tune is everything anyone could want from a song: absolutely catching string section and a chorus that won’t leave your head for days. Songwriter and singer Mick Head is an unsung genius. The band reached the UK charts once (reaching spot 48).
The music video is worth a watch. The French new wave vibe is rather nice on the eyes.
If you’re looking for more of the Pale Fountains, I suggest buying “Longshot For Your Love.”
