The second teaser has been released for the Chad Ferrin-directed film The Chair. It’s gruesome. It’s brutal. And there’s even a bit of terror.
The film, named after a Alterna graphic novel of the same name, follows a man on death row as he struggles to escape his own execution. The man, Richard Sullivan, witnesses the grim torture of his fellow inmates at the hands of a twisted warden. The only way for Sullivan to survive is to fight. But he is forced to face his own past as he matches the brutality with the prison.
There is a whole ensemble of familiar names that make up the cast: Naomi Grossman (who plays the microcephalic Pepper in seasons 2 and 4 of American Horror Story), Atreyu – I mean Noah Hathaway, Zach Galligan, Bill Oberst Jr and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. Peter Simeti is both writer and creator of the series and contributed to the writing of the screenplay.
Ferrin’s previous films like Easter Bunny, Kill! Kill! and Someone’s Knocking at the Door have been shocking and full of the things that crawl out of your nightmares, but this prison-set film might be eerily closer to reality than many would like to admit.
Also, if you don’t already follow Zach Galligan on Twitter, do so. He does #MogwaiMonday so he’s basically the best person ever.
